Subject: Sleeveless or full wetsuit?
I posted a few days ago about my horrid first tri experience (swim portion only) and got some great advice on improving for my next swim in September.  So, I've signed up for private swim lessons and have decided to purchase a wetsuit. My question is, sleeveless or full?  I live in WA- doing only lake swims but will more than likely move to salt water swims.  What would you recommend?

I own both and much prefer the sleeveless. Have swan in some pretty cold water and been fine. It really is a very personal choice. However, you mention saltwater, which brings up jellies... sleeves would be a bonus.

I've got both now and will wear the sleeveless whenever the water temp is appropriate for it.  I do a lot of ocean swimming and in the early season, honestly, the sleeves do make a difference in terms of not getting overly chilled at the start.  But the majority of my swims since I bought the sleeveless have been in that.

Sleeves. More suit, more buoyancy, less friction = faster.
Dont worry about water temp. If its legal...wear it. If you wear one, wear sleeves.

The only caveat in my book is some people have issues with sleeves..they just arent comfortable with all that suit on. Unless you are one of those people, no question that you get sleeves in my book.

Sleeves, why would you not want the extra buoyancy ?

And as a bonus it is the faster choice

Full wetsuit has all the benefits. Getting a good fit is important so your swim stroke is not adversely effected. I found that the 2 piece Desoto suit worked best for me.

Jellyfish got me on the arm this morning but my suit is full sleeves so I only got a small sting on my hand.  If I hadn't had sleeves, it would have been full on my arm...
