Anyone doing any crazy, stupid, awesome workouts for New Years Eve/Day?

Someone in our Masters group decided it would be a good idea to do a long New Years Eve swim.  Most people were going to do 100x75 meters on a 1:45 pace which was going to be a bit slow for me so I decided I would do 100s instead of 75s on the same 1:45 and would drop down to the 75s once I got tired and couldn't do the 100s on that pace time anymore.  Well, I got about #50 into it and considered going down to the 75s for a bit but never actually did and once I got to about #65 there was no way I was stopping.  I was suffering pretty hard from about #85 to the end but it sure felt good to finish!

My only mistake was not taking the rest of the day off work so here I sit like a zombie waiting for the day to go by.  Cry

100x100s equal death!!! I never want to see that set every again!! We did that in College except it was broken down in groups of 3. 3 on 1:25 , 3 on 1:15, 3 on 1:05 repeat 11 times then number 100 is an all out sprint! Thankfully I graduated in May and will not be doing that set anymore!! Actually the team will be doing that set next week for winter training!SUCKS TO BE THEM!

But congrats because I know it is a tough set no matter what the times! good mental toughness to swim that set!! Well DONE

Congratulations, that's awesome!
Oh, and don't forget to set your Tivo to record the NYE countdown since you'll probably be fast asleep

Meh, we never make it to midnight anyway so it will be nothing different.    I haven't been able to stop eating since I finished though.  Ate my lunch by 11:30 and then ordered some takeout!

Nope. Haven't swam today, but I did do my last minute ditch effort on the bike this morning. That was 2hrs of torture enough...

But I do need to get in the pool, so a good long set sounds good...

We had one earlier this year which was the similar torture method - 60 x 100 @ 2:00. Granted then, it was hard to complete, now that's a pretty easy to maintain.

Amazing what a year has done...
