Subject: Early morning water rescue!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!So this morning it was cold real cold, a smidge above zero. Woke about 5:30am because the baby was crying so I figured I would run my four dogs in the back paddock before work. I get the dogs in after their run on a lead one at a time, I have 3 huskys and they'll run exactly where you don't want them to.
No problems so far. They all go in fine except for the dog below. Usually we don't worry about a lead because she sticks with us, but not this morning.
She runs off and leaps straight into our dam. (reminder at this point it's about 4 degrees celsius ).
I go after her and see she doing laps in the dam and chasing a lone duck.
After 15 minutes of trying to get her to come out with no luck, I decide the only way shes coming out is if I get her out. The duck is tormenting her and me by this stage by going under the water and coming up on the other side of the dam, great game for her, not so for me.
I disrobe down to my boxers, reminder 4 degrees air temp., and edge into the dam. At this point I'm ok that the water temp. is probably a good 2-4 degrees celsius also. I swim out and retreive my dog, who licks me as if to say thanks for coming to play now lets get the duck, and I drag her to the dam edge.
To say the least not how I wanted to start my day. The offender is below. (mia1.jpg)Attachments ---------------- mia1.jpg (98KB - 6 downloads) |
