Subject: Kona TV coverage
I've been having a hard time finding information. Anyone know if it will be covered live on TV or streamed? Or is this going to be another wait-for-the-highlights?

there are a few threads on this alredy will be streamed on ironmanlive but no live tv coverage and the highlight recap on tv is scheduled for something like the 27th of October.

I doubt it...they already paid the money to WTC for the bigger contract, right?  Unless they feel like they're pushing something else out of the lineup that would give better ratings, I can't imagine them paying for extended coverage and then not showing it.  Even without LA, the increased popularity of triathlon over the last year (again) should still lead to some pretty good numbers.

Maybe that's just wishful thinking...

That would be SIGNIFICATNLY earlier then previous years.  It has been in mid December the last few years.

It is significantly earlier, but they committed to it when Lance was originally planning to race:

This year’s Ironman World Championship triathlon will be televised about six weeks earlier than originally planned and probably will feature an increased focus on cycling champion Lance Armstrong.

Comcast Corp.’s NBC network and Erik Vervloet, Ironman’s chief marketing officer, confirmed the programming changes yesterday. NBC has broadcast the championship since 1990.

The network is currently scheduled to air two hours of the Oct. 13 race in Hawaii on Oct. 27 as Armstrong, the seven-time Tour de France winner, seeks to challenge the world’s best triathletes in the sport’s premier race.

In previous years, the event’s broadcast had been limited to 90 minutes and shown on tape delay in December.
