Senator Daniel Inouye, Medal of Honor Recipient for his actions in Italy.  From wikipedia:

"The remainder of Inouye's mutilated right arm was later amputated at a field hospital without proper anesthesia, as he had been given too much morphine at an aid station and it was feared any more would lower his blood pressure enough to kill him."

I can think of no other person in elected office who more deserve the title "hero" than Senator Daniel Inouye.

Aloha 'Oe Daniel.  Mahalo nui loa.

The members of the 442 are amazing examples of courage, sacrifice, and patriotism.  Go For Broke Senator.  Rest in Peace.

My great uncle was in an adjacent unit in Italy and he said the same thing. So many of their families were in internment camps and they fought like crazy for This country.

This is the first I heard of his death...

I started reading about him when I was a kid.  He was a great senator, a great American, and an inspiration especially to us Asian-American kids.

So I know the rules are the rules, but when a guy like Inouye says "you should appoint this lady." And instead you appoint a ha'ole, that's just wrong.

Brian Schatz is a good guy, but it'll be tough to follow Inouye.
