My wife would like some type of MP3 or other good device that she can use for running. I don't run with music so I am not sure what would be a good model to look at. If anyone has suggestions I would appreciate the help. Thanks.

iPod shuffle is nice.  Small, with a clip to attach to clothing. I always run with music in training, since I hate to run. But she should be sure the places she runs are well lit, with a lot of foot traffic since she will be less tuned in to the environment, and therefore a target for bad guys. Or in a gym on a dreadmill treadmill

x2 on the shuffle.

I was worried about no display (it's still the only downside, IMO).  But the size and ease of it are GREAT!  I LOVE mine....  I don't even use my other Ipod anymore except for docked in the house or car.

1+ on the shuffle. It has survived my sweatfests in our recent 110+ heat index days.

I have a related question -- has anyone found any ear buds they especially like? The OEM ones are OK, but I have worn them out, and was wondering about some other choices.

If you like the original ones that came with your iPod, you might like these:

Some people hate the iPod ones and go for a different style, but I like the original ones and these fit me great (they also come in colors other than blue).  I get them at Best Buy and they're cheap:  http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8720093&st=earbuds&lp=4&type=product&cp=1&id=1200702768512

Mine are sony earbuds.  I think they were around $40.   Far better than the ipod ones for sure, but still have some issues with them staying in when i'm sweating like mad.  Trial & error to figure out what will work.

As far as headphones, I've been using these ~$15 Sony's for years now, comfortable and stay in place regardless of the bounce or sweatage.

I've been happy with the Sandisk Clip 4gb player.   Very small but still has a full display.  Haven't used my full size Ipod since I got the Sandisk.
