So I just got a tri bike, and I've only been riding a mountain bike since I can remember.  I didn't realize it would be such a different feeling, and I'm actually just a slight bit uncomfortable.  It's a used bike, and does need to be tuned up and adjusted a bit, I'm taking it in tomorrow.  Hopefully that will help a lot.  I will say that it is wicked fast, and I hope I get used to it soon.

keep riding, ride in areas where you feel safe to start with and it will come quick,

Thanks!  My wife was actually driving behind me for a little bit, and said I was kinda swerving all over.  I told her I was trying to keep her from passing =D

It is a bit odd going from those big old fat mountain bike tires to those itty bitty barely touching the road tires!

A couple rides and you'll be good to go.

F.Y.I.  watch out for those rocks and little holes in the road that you used to just plow over on the mountain.

You can look back to early last season and see that I raced my first race fully on the horns!!!
I ended up putting a few spacers back in until I got used to the aerobars - I was more flexi than my handling skills!

Now I am fine in an aggressive position and it did not take that long to get used to - you will be fine!

I'm living through Deja Vu at the moment. All last year my S32 was set up fairly beginner friendly, and just when I really got used to the way it handled...

...I go and switch out Ski bends for S-bends, drop some spacers, and tighten my aerobars as close as I can get them. I went out for a ride and it reminded me of my first time on a tri bike haha.

Good luck!

I moved my aerobars forward about  a quarter inch from where the fitter had them, and I felt a lot more stable at speed.  I still feel as comfortable, and I dont think a quarter inch opened me up too much.

Like everything, the more you practice the more confident and comfortable you will feel.

You'll be surprised at how quickly you get used to it, but I think you are looking at around 3 months before it feels 100% natural...

good luck
