Subject: Wheel Set?

Looking for a wheel set recommendation.  Right now I am ridding the wheels that came with my Look 576 (Not so good).  I am 205 lbs so I need something strong and I will sacrifice some weight for strength and stiffness.  If it matters I am racing mostly Olympics with a HIM every now and then.  I don’t mind spending some money to get a good set but I would like to stay with clinchers.  I don’t think the wife will understand having to buy a whole new tire every time I get a flat.

Thanks

I would recommend a pair of HED Jet 60's Stallion build. Strong enough to ride every day, and aero enough to race, but not so deep that you can't ride them if it's windy. Probably close to the perfect option (in my opinion of course... biased as it is from riding HED wheels for the last couple of years)

I just got a set of Neuvations and have been very happy with them. I do not use them for everyday but when I do use them- have been very pleased. Compared to other wheels they are very nice on the wallet too.

I was just going to say these.  The stallions have to be a tough build. I was 195 and riding the standard build and had absolutely no problems.  Love these wheels.

Not to hijack but I am in the same boat.

Do you guys prefer carbon over other material for the guy that will train and race on the same wheels.  I guess my question is, does carbon hold up to the everyday abuse.  Currently 185#'s.

Are you looking for race wheels?  If so, weight is not a major factor.  You want aero wheels.

What is "not so good" about your current wheelset?  I don't see any reason to replace training wheels unless they are causing you problems (e.g., breaking spokes, coming out of true, etc.).

I'd go with the HED 69 Stallion build. With your weight you'll have no problem with a deeper rear and a shallow front. HED 60's are cool and all but go deeper in the rear unless you're a roadie.

I wouldn't suggest riding "race" wheels on a daily basis, they're called "race wheels" for a reason. Use the training wheels that came with the bike for everyday rides and go fast and feel great when you put on the HED 69 set up. PM me if you want more info or have some more questions.
