Stretched a little.
Swim

  • 400 yards
  • 02m 59s / 100 yards
Comments:

My heat moved slowly...and in order to stay out of the crowd I moved even slower.
What would you do differently?:

Practiced in open water surrounded by people in order to get over my claustrophobia.
Transition 1
  • 05m 33s
Comments:

There was a bottleneck in my transition area. It was hard to get in and out. I changed my gear quite well, however.
What would you do differently?:

Taken myself out of a the "mixed/recreational" age category.
Bike
  • 38m 24s
  • 9 miles
  • 14.06 mile/hr
Comments:

I passed tons of people...and I was not passed at all!
What would you do differently?:

Pushed myself. My pace was moderate and fun...definitely not race pace.
Transition 2
  • 01m 46s
Comments:

My stuff was moved when I returned!
What would you do differently?:

Hurried!
Run
  • 19m 51s
  • 2 miles
  • 09m 56s  min/mile
Comments:

I am not a strong runner so I was pleased with my time.
What would you do differently?:

Pushed myself. I jogged the entire way.
Post race
Warm down:

Stretching.

Event comments:

I was not exhausted after the race nor was I sore the next day. Considering the fact that I had not trained much in the specific areas, 1:17 was a respectable time. I focused on finishing and having fun...both of which, I did. My strong base of cardio fitness served me well and zone training is aweswome (I had my HRM on the entire time). I can only imagine what my time will be like next year after I train more in the specific areas and push myself during the race. I loved the tri...but I will never give up my weights or elliptical machine.:)

I have a Giant OCR3 that made a funny noise the entire race (it's brand new, too. The chain fell off during the trnasport to Orlando and someone had to help me put it back on...but I don't think they did it correctly. My next goal is to learn more about my bike. If it had broken down, I would not have known how to fix it. I had ridden it all of once before the race. I never switched gears. LOL I plan to do the tri in Sarasota as well as the Reebok tri in St. Pete. I prefer all-women's races in which the proceeds go to medical research. The Sarasota tri is simply convenient. And you?

I paid about $600.00 for mine. It's rated quite highly and is known as a "best bang for your buck"...particularly for a newbie. I love it.

Great race and great report. Glad you had fun. I did Crazy Dicks tri in Siesta Key in March. It was pretty good except for the traffic control was a little out of hand. When is your next race???? Take care -SMO

I am definitely. going to do the Reebok in July. I would also like to do the Siesta in June. We'll see. I prefer all-women's races in which the money goes toward a cause.
