Has it always been the policy at Ironman Louisville to NOT let athletes have access to their transition bags the morning of race day?

I must have missed that in the Athlete Guide or the meeting.

I think so.  It was a huge hassle for me.  I had my Infinit in my run bag and as I found out having them in the heat for 24 hrs...is not good.  Luckily only one  of my 4 spoiled.

At IMFL and IMAZ I had access to my t-bags on race day.  This is the first time I haven't had access.  But, I knew that going in to drop off my bike.  I found out at the athlete's meeting on Friday night.

Yeah, at CDA in 07 and 08 I DID have access to my bags the morning of.  I wear orthotics in my run shoes (medical thing) and well, I kindof need those to walk around in too after I turn in my gear bags.  Creates a bit of a problem come race morning and I can't get to my bags to put them in my run transition bag.  I did find a way around it and I cannot tell you what it was (I promised) but still, I wish they would make it one way or another across all Ironman races, especially since they own them all now.

A standard policy would totally help.  It should be easy since all the branded mdot's are owned by one group.  I realize each venue has it's own issues, but you'd think some of this stuff would be easy.

Why do I remember bringing my transition bags morning of?  Am I just thinking special needs?

Canada you don't get your sn bags back. After you rode or ran by they recycled your stuff into garbage, donate, bike stuff, ect.

I wanted to switch from prescription sunglasses to my normal glasses when sun went down on the run but I wasn't ditching my sunglasses.

Yes.  That was the rule in 2007 and 2008 also.
