Swim
Comments: This swim was a big improvement for me. Did a lot more freestyle than last time, but still mixed in some breaststroke. Faster than even my fastest pool swims!!! The main thing is, there was ZERO "freak-out" so that is good! What would you do differently?: Freestyle the whole way....turn better. Plus if the alligators had chased me a little, it would probably have improved my time. Transition 1
Comments: Well, I still have some work to do here. But it was an improvement over last time, and I'll take that and learn from it. What would you do differently?: Faster, faster, faster Bike
Comments: Bike speed was better than last time, so again, I'll take it. The course was flat and relatively easy, but there are some BIG dangers with the expansion joints near the turnaround. Saw one girl being loaded into an ambulance, and a guy flipped right in front of me. As I was avoiding him, my rear tire slipped into one of the joints and I almost joined him on the ground, but I got lucky. One funny moment was when I was just heading out on the bike, Tiger Phil went flying past me on his way in...guess I need to train more, huh Phil?? What would you do differently?: As Bear would say, RIDE LOTS. I just need to keep working to develop my engine. Otherwise, I was pleased. Transition 2
Comments: Much, much better T2 for me. Pleased as can be What would you do differently?: Get some lace locks for my running shoes so I don't have to mess with tying them. Run
Comments: I suck...period. No excuses, no explanations. I need to RUN LOTS, and then run some more....and then run a little more after that. What would you do differently?: Ummmmmmmmmmmmm.....well, maybe buy a jet pack? Post race
Warm down: Walked around in circles for a minute trying to enjoy the moment, enjoyed some cold watermelon and water, graciously provided by Bill's wife. Visited with all my new BT friends. What limited your ability to perform faster: Well, the fact that I am a beginner, and just plain need more training and experience; oh yeah, and did I mention that my running sucks? Event comments: Great race, and it was incredibly fun to meet all you guys from this board that were there. Mike, hope the road rash is getting better. Joe, you are too damn fast, and I'm pissed that you get to liv ein Katy...I love that place. Phil, you are even faster which is just plain sick...slow down on the bike a little, would ya? Gomez, GREAT effort, and of course you weren't DFL....but you do need a helmet for the swim next time! Bill....well, I TOLD YOU that you would reel me in on the run...and what was that you were saying Saturday night about the swim? Velasquez...go get'em at IM Florida! You guys are all awesome, and I hope to see you at many more races. (Crap, I hope I didn't miss anyone!!). Finally....did anyone else notice the sign near the end of the run that said "Alligators in Park...Please Do Not Disturb"?? I wonder why they didn't mention this BEFORE we got into the pond??
