Good job on making it through!

I thought your RR said "Squeamish Triathlon" at first, so had to read it to figure out why it had that name... had thoughts of biking through slime, etc.

Great race, esp. the swim. Congrats on toughing out the hills on that run! Enjoyed the pics too.

PS. Can't imagine water that cool in mid July!

Hey Leah,

This was the race report I was waiting for!

You had a really good race. Your swim and bike were fantastic. Congratulations on the great swim with no dizzyness. I think your prep in Sasamat really helped with that. Congrats. The way you describe the run was exactly as I remember it too. Hilly for the first 5km. When you do that little out and back up and down that big hill on a neighbourhood street, I really wanted to skip it. But I kept did it and so did you. The run through the trails was much nicer, but I swear the sun is always beating down on that highway getting to those trails. A gradual uphill too from what I remember. So I think you did great and now you know the course for next year. Your race report will be an invaluable tool for next year.

As for the lei, I think it may have been a race offical who moved it. I am actually a TriBC level one race official and during my training, they told us that marking your race spot is considered an unfair advantage and they will untie balloon and wash off chalk marks, so I guess they removed your lei.

Oh yeah, one more thing. You made good time up to Squamish in the morning. So what's your next tri? X-terra? You could really do well in that I think.

Is the swim in Buntzen? If yes, then you Laura can definitely do the swim. Dip your toes in there next time we are at Sasamat.
