I had a couple of his records from the late 70s back in the college days.  Now I listen to a few tracks on napster.  None of his old ones are there, just new releases.   And he played a live concert in Bellingham this last year and I didn't go.  I'm a doofus.

Used to listen to him alot in college, awsome guitar player. Sometimes blew my mind that it was only one person. He`s almost as good as me!

Leo Kottke is a big favorite of mine. I missed a chance to see him last year. He's an absolute wizard on guitar. His version of Duane Allman's "Little Martha" is great, but what I really want to watch is him play "Vaseline Machine Gun." Insane!

Here's a few more of my favorite guitarists...any of these on your list?

Bruce Cockburn (Canadian singer, wonderful on guitar too..virtually unknown in the US)
Don Ross (another Canadian, sounds like he's got 3 hands)
J. J. Cale ("After Midnight", "Cocaine", "Call Me The Breeze" composer)
Jorma Kaukonen (ex Jefferson Airplane...seen in concert...amazing)
Martin Simpson
Pierre Bensusan
Michael Hedges (R.I.P....the guitarist from another planet)
Will Ackerman ("Mr. Alternate Tuning"...love playing butchering some of his stuff)
Steve Baughman
Tom Long
Pat Metheny (seen twice in concert, have 24 of his CD's...the guy's a genius)
Pepe D'Agostino
Muriel Anderson
Vince Gill (when he plays bluegrass)
Mark Knoppfler (Dire Straits)
Lindsey Buckingham (Fleetwood Mac)
Ian Anderson (Jethro Tull, good guitarist, gets more credit on flute though)
Joe Satriani

Love Knopfler (sp?) and the other greats- Hendrix, Page, SRV.

Also :
Tim Reynolds - plays with Dave matthews sometimes, but I saw him a few years ago on his own and it was unreal.

"She jumps up running, running up the stairs..."

All great players, I just saw acoustic Hot Tuna in July. Jorma was great as always.

I also have to add Richard Thompson and Burt Jansch. Max, you may also like a guy named Brooks Williams. He lives in your general area. His instrumental acoustic album "Little Lion" is a staple in our home.
