The Pirate's camera finally loaded some of his pics since he has been here. Some were uploaded from a AP photog that I met here...They are depressing and the animals will break your heart. The guy on the bike with the gun was in Wal-Mart...He scared the crap out of me, because he wanted to know if I was with the police taking his picture. Most of the people in there were taking crap that was useless like TV's, stereo's, phones, CD's, only a few were getting food and water or clothes.

Ahhh- poor little dogs.  Why is is that I feel more sorry for animals sometimes than people?  Anyone else have the problem?  Did you rescue any dogs Tri Pirate?  Bring me one back if you can

Did not rescue any dogs but fed probably 100...Down below Slidell in Bayou Savage, Irish Bayou and in St Bernard Parish....If you stop and get out of your truck within 10-15 min dogs will come from everywhere looking for food. We went to a feed store in Baton Rouge and bought 8 50lb bags of dog food and left it with the National Guard at some of there stations to feed the dogs that were showing up. At one National Guard checkpoint ther were 50/60 dogs. Some have since been claimed while the others have been rescued by the animal groups that are here.

Well at least we got a triathlete on here.  I mean he does appear to be on a bike.  He just didn't want to miss any of his workouts.  Right?

Amazing images.  Thanks for sharing Pirate.  A friend of mine here in Omaha adopted a Katrina dog.  Very sad.
