Subject: The Terms of this Election

In 1984, it was "Where's the Beef?"

In 1988, it was "No New Taxes"

In 1992, it was "Ah Feel Yer Pain"

In 2000, it was Recount

In 2004, it was "Mandate"

In 2008, it was "Hope and Change"

It seems like the theme this time is "Double-Down"  I just saw a video where Stephanie Cutter said "Romney is doubling-down on those comments."  I've heard that several times.  I've also heard Republicans say "Obama wants us to 'double-down' on his agenda".  I think that's the theme of this election.

Anyone got any others?  Maybe "For America" or "The Middle Class" or "Working Class"?

Not starting a flame.  I'm just wondering what terms are getting over-used in this campaign?

Perhaps it will be similar to your 1996 example.

btw, I thought 2004's was "Swift Boat" or "flip-flopper."  They worked quite well for the incumbent.

2008 also featured "maverick" and "you betcha"

It will be interesting to see how it all plays out...the debates are going to be huge.  The GOP features a pair of better debaters than they did in '08.

That's what I was going to say.

I agree with CD that the debates are going to be huge.  It's still anybody's election to win/lose.

I don't remember one for 96.

Was it "Im Bob Dole, and I have Electile Dysfunction"?

Get it?
