It says 2x20' at 100-105% FTP.

Is this right? All of his 100-105% workouts are under 6 minutes in duration. Was this a typo? Shouldn't it read 95-100%? I have a wicked difficult time getting up to 163 where my threshold heart rate is and have a hard time imagining holding 165-170 for twenty minutes.

I did his plan a few winters ago - helped raise my FTP by around 10%. In theory, you should be able to do 2x20 @ 100%. 100% is what you 'should' be able to hold for an hour, after all. That being said, when I do 20 min intervals they are generally in the 95% range. You still get a very good workout at that range.

It should be what I can hold for an hour, however going above that for 40 minutes even with the rest break sounds hard because the test was done on fresh legs. Most of the time they're pretty thrashed by the time the evening comes around (I stack my hard days and running happens in the morning). And I know training isn't easy but I guess a way I can redirect the question would be:

is there a big muscle stimulation difference between 95, 100 and 105%? I'll try to take a dose of HTFU when I hop on the the trainer in a few minutes, but the effort level that separates that 10% range is enormous -.-

If you compare it to day 99 of the power based plan, it is 95-100% there...

Me too... bummer.

The plan does have a few typos, but I'm not sure that this is one of them.  The workout intensities do seem to go up the last few weeks of the plan.  Earlier this week I had a 3x10' @100%.  I don't remember intervals of that intensity lasting that long before this workout.
