Subject: RE: LONG BIKE / LONG RUNKey to IM training is to hit the essential workouts: The long swim, long bike, long run, every week. Hit these workouts well-rested and make sure its a quality workout. There is absolutely no reason IMO to put hard days back to back. Most of the plans have the longest workouts on the weekends because the weekends are when the people have the most time. If you can do a long run during the weekday, say wednesday and long bike on saturday, that will be awesome too. IMO: The key to running strong in an IM is not JUST the long run but also the long bricks that you will start to implement closer to your race day. 5-6 hr bike followed by 1 hour run or 2-3 hr rides followed by 2-2.5 hour runs will SPRING your running to a whole new level. my 2 cents. |
