First, though, make sure you've got your position dialed in (for aerodynamics and comfort, and some of that comfort comes with being in the position in practice) and that you can stay IN that position. The aero helmet will be of greatest benefit if you don't have to be moving your head around a lot. That's one of the reasons that I tend to put wheels above a helmet -- the wheels don't care what position you're in... Regardless, though, the "bang for the buck" factor definitely goes to the helmet. Will you look like a poseur for wearing one? No, you'll look like a triathlete. As for looking "ridiculous", well... Don't we all? |
