Anyone have recommendations for an indoor pool (25 or 50M) that is not ridiculously busy at 5:30 - 7:00 AM, and not too far a drive from Cherry Creek?

Have you checked out the rec centers? I swim at Montclair rec in Lowry but in the evenings so I've no idea how it is in the mornings.

Huh, I swim at Montclaire too I wonder if we see each other. It's a great pool, but kind of busy in the evenings.

I've heard the 24 hr fitness pools in the area (I think there's one on Tamarac) don't get very busy, but I didn't want to pay that much and the montclaire pool was much nicer. They'll let you visit to just walk around though, so you could probably scope it out during the time you'd most likely be there.

That's funny.  There's a new 24 Hour Fitness at Lowry that's a Lance Armstrong edition, supposed to have more cycling stuff.  I swam last night but not for long, freaking goggles were leaking again. I'm buying new ones today.

I have not found a 50m indoor, the only 50m that I researched is outdoor at Del Mar and only lapswims are 11-1 weekends/days (I think, I never made it over there before moving).

We lived real close to Wash park, all last winter I hit the Alameda 24hr, 25m pool, at 5am if not earlier.  I rarely had to share a lane, until I started training with a friend.  It's decent enough, a well used club if-ya-know-what-i-mean.

Hope that helps somewhat.

The Ritchey Center at DU has their pool set up for Long Course (50m) a couple of days a week.  I've heard it is not cheap, but is a wonderful facility.

I have been a lurker for a while, but I thought I might add my two cents. I joined a 24 hour because it only cost $24/month which was cheaper than the Parker Rec if you go two times a week. I don't know if they have that special going anymore and maybe it depends on the type of 24hr. I go in the mornings and Monday is the only bad day - not sure why - maybe more motivated people.

There is a funny guy there that splashes half the pool out when he does his flip turns. For a new/bad swimmer like me he makes the waves realistic for an open water swim.

Yowza! I can't believe the Parker Rec is that expensive. I pay $37.50 for 3 months for Denver Rec centers.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I swam at Montclair this morning, and it worked out great, although I wish they opened about 30 minutes earlier.

With facilities and prices the Denver rec centers offer, I am surprised the "commercial" gyms can survive in this town, although I guess that explains why they don't have a 24 Hour Fitness or Bally's on every block like they do in Houston.
