Signing up for this today as my second race.  For those that have done it before - does the point to point system work smoothly?  My only experience will be a single T point that I keep coming back to.  Will be going this one alone, and just wanted one less thing to worry about.

They work just the same except for before and after race coordination takes a little more work (to get all your stuff).  It takes a little more effort to make sure your transitions have everything you need.  (it would suck to leave your running hat in T1 when you are in T2!!!).  The races I have done, they give you a bag to put in all your running gear and you don't see it again till T2 where they hang them by number or find them for you.  For that reason, you need to make sure everything you need is in that bag for the run, or your SOL.

To be honest, I LOVE point to point, just because they are out of the norm and mix things up a little.

Follow your checklist, follow the race directions carefully, take a little more time organizing and making sure things are good, and you should be fine.

Aikidoman has given some great advice for the point to point format - be organized and follow the instructions and you will be fine.

You will have a great time at this race.  I did the Intermediate last year and will be returning this year.  I travel from the Phoenix area just because I enjoy the event.  BBSC does a great job with the organization and presentation.  It is a challenging course, but the run is entirely on the streets this year, which makes things a little more manageable.  Try to do some hill training on the bike if you can.  The last 8 miles or so are mostly uphill, and the last mile climb into T2 is tough.  Hope that I can meet up with everyone who is there on race day!

What they said.  Be organized and you'll be fine (you also realize how little you need in T2)

And, for the record, may I just say that I am stoked that they have moved the run from hilly trails out in the desert to pancake flat!!!  Woot!!!!!!

I am registered for this race, too, along with Chris and 200 other members of the LATri Club, so Andy, you will definitely not be alone.  I did it (sprint) in 2006 also.  The swim in Lake Mead requires you to walk across the rocky shore to get to the start -- I think I may bring throwaway shoes this time.  The bike is hilly.  Very hilly, and I don't say that lightly, having done Wildflower long and am signed up for IMLP.  The sprint run is pretty much flat; the Oly run this year is supposed to be flatter now that it's off the trails.  The point-to-point system works well; you will have an assigned spot to put your T2 stuff on Friday when you go to packet pickup -- which you MUST do on Friday.  Feel free to contact me if you have more Qs.
