Ice baths are great after intense or long training. Hot tubs are fun but I would avoid hot water immediately after a session to avoid inflammation, but a hot tub can be nice on a recovery day to relax and loosen up.

Use them the same way you'd use ice and heat. Ice right away, heat later. Ice for acute inflammation, heat for long term relaxation. That is, I would recommend AGAINST using a hot tub post workout. I'd definitely consider it pre-workout to get loosened/warmed up (especially in S. Ontario winters! I used to live outside Buffalo, NY ), and as a nice treat after a day or two off, but I wouldn't use it within about 23 hours of a workout (giving you enough time to heat pre-workout ).
