Subject: Garmin Upload crashing Firefox and IE

Lately when I go to upload my workouts I'll get to the point where it starts to upload the data and Firefox and IE will crash.  Running the latest stable versions of both.

I tried deleting all the old history and that worked once but now it crashes every time (and there are only 1-2 workouts on the watch).

Any ideas of suggestions?  Need more info?

The first step is seeing if we can pinpoint where this is happening.

Try the following and let us know the result:

  1. go to the Garmin Communicator API demo page
  2. Click "Find Devices"
  3. Change the File Type as TCX History (All) and click "Read From Device"
  4. Wait for the green "Reading from..." process at the top to finish

For what it's worth, I just tried that on the Garmin test page and it crashed FireFox. No BT code involved. A reboot took care of it.

Followed your steps.  No issues on the Garmin page.  Came back to BT to enter a workout and it crashes Firefox.

Reboot

Same issue.

That's a new one.

The next thing I'd try is uninstalling and reinstalling Garmin Communicator.

I have same problem but have managed to work around (does this on Garmin's website as well)....

 

When you hit upload data, if it doesn't start immediately, hit cancel.

 Repeat until it starts to upload... can take 5-10 repeats sometimes but this has worked for me both here and motionbased.

In my case as soon as you hit Upload it would crash.  No chance to cancel.  However I have found that a reboot will fix it 50% of the time.
