Subject: How to prepare bike for transition zone
Hi,

I saw triathlon before and I check the pro triathlete when they arrived at the transition zone after they put there helmet they ran to the line where we can go on the bike. All the time when they ran the bike shoes still stright in the air.

How they fix the shoes to still it straight like that and the shoes never go down.

If somebody know the trick I will appreciate it.

Rubber bands connecting shoes to the frame.  Get feet in and snap the bands.  Check the trasition video here on BT.

Just a note - the shoes-on-bike trick is something that  really shouldn't be done if you haven't practiced it, and practiced it, and practiced it. And really, unless you are looking to win your AG, it's not really necessary. If you can't execute it properly, you could risk injuring yourself or other rides. If you're a true beginner, there is no real reason why you "need" to learn this trick.

I don't want to use it immediatly but I would like to know how it work. I will sleep less crazy than yesterdayWink

Thank you for warning about that tricky method

I disagree, depending on T1 setup.

I did the "put the bike shoes on in T1" thing and T1 was a grass setup.  Well my cleats got full of mud while running the bike out and I couldn't get clipped into my pedals for over a mile or so until the mud dried and I was able to knock it out.  It really sucks to be pedalling with 1 foot!  That said, if you know T1 is paved, no you don't need to learn this trick.

Needless to say I no longer take my shoes off of my bike anymore.  Every time I ride I practice getting in/out of the shoes while clipped in.

And I've run through mud and muck (with Speedplays thank you very much) and not had a problem.

There is another thread about halfway down the page on this which I've expressed my opinions on the whole "shoes-on-bike" discussion.

When I go to www.beginnertriathlete.com the "Video: Triathlon Transitions" is in a window in the middle of the page.

If you still don't see it, try this: http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/cms/article-detail.asp?articleid=1757

Watch the whole video, it's less than 10 minutes.  The rubber bands holding shoes trick begins at 4:50.

Bon chance!
