Subject: Hi
Hi im new to the forum and to tri, i have just entered the sprint tri at ilkley in Yorkshire. I am 42 and 5ft4in i am overweight at 14st 4. i gave up smoking but feel better for it despite the weight.
I have started training and will hopefully slim down. I need some advice about kit i have a bike and good trainers, but my problem is swim to run kit especialy the support needed for my larger chest! Do i get a sport bra and wear it under my swim suit or are there other optiona available. help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Adele

Have also entered Ilkley - have competed there last 2 years and enjoyed. Can give you advice on the event and route, but alas, not on anything bra related!!!

I would appreciate some advice about the course, I understand a third of the lap is a hill!
But it is supposed to be a realy good day!

Thanks

Hi Adele
good luck with your first race. Cant speak from personal experience but I do know the more generously proportioned ladies in my club do as you said and wear a sport bra under their tri suit or swimsuit

If you go to the LBT website I am sure there is a You Tube video of the course. The bike course is a 3 lap affair so the hill in question is tackled 3 times (and then again on the run) - if you are not too far away, have a go around the course...it's an easy one to navigate

3 races into my 1st tri season and i strngly recommend driving the bike and run before every race to get to know the route and turns, also if poss check out the swim, get an idea of transition etc. enjoy and good luck !

I have seen adverts on the web that shock absorber (the people who make the sports bras) now do swimming cossies with built in bras. Don't know if that'll help with training. For competing (the whole twice!!) i have worn a sports bra under my tri suit and its seemed to work pretty well.

Thanks for all your tips guysSmile,
I have been for a walk around the circuit and the hill seems to go on for everSurprised!! so i am incorporating more hill work in my training.
As its my first go at tri, i will be happy just to finish the course, a good time would be a bonus.

Thanks again
Adele
