I know this isn't a gear forum, but thought I'd seek advice from the local tri community as to wetsuits that would be suitable for the majority of OW tri swims in our province...

Current inclination is to go with a long-sleeve suit... best fit to date has been Aquasphere Ironman Racer...

Thinking if the water is warm enough to warrant racing in a sleeveless suit.. there is a good chance that race officials will deem it a 'no wetsuit' race?!

Welcome any insights...

Purchased a new Xterra X2 full wetsuit about 2 months ago and love it. Got it online for $300 (half price) using a promotional code provided by a friend. I think there is a link to the same promotion on the BT website right now.
Wasn't too knowledgeable about wetsuits prior to purchase but I love mine and have no complaints. I have heard some raise issues about the full suit feeling restrictive in the arm area during their swim stroke but I believe a good fit and proper adjustments made while donning the suit go a long way.
Still a newbie at all this but it's my two cents worth.

I just bought a Rocket Science wetsuit and love it!  Super bouyent (sp?) and absolutely no arm restriction!...kind of feels like your not even wearing a wetsuit!

Another company that makes great suits for under $200 is Promotion.

I bought my Orca used for $175 and I'm happy with it.  This is my 3rd season wearing it and it's still in good shape.  It is full length.  I can't justify buying a new one, yet.

Thanks all for the suggestions & insights...

I definitely like the idea of being able to test the suit in the water... prior to purchasing.. I know Tri-Geeks has rental suits.. so I'm assuming those are the suits they would let me test swim?!

I spoke with customer service at Xterra yesterday... and they have a 30-day trial/return/resize/refund policy... as they sell direct to the customer. Seems like a great policy, but not sure I want to have to deal with the waiting game of shipping, etc :P

Decisions, decisions...

I've always used a sleeveless suit and it isn't too bad. I'm a wimp when it comes to cold too, but I heat up when I exercise, so while it is tough to get in the water, it's fine in our climate without the sleeves.

That said, if I bought a new suit, I'd probably buy one with sleeves. I'm sure they aren't restricting. I went with the sleeveless one though because it was $8 at Sports Junkies.

So I'd save you'd be fine in this climate with or without, but my first choice would be sleeves.

Thanks again for the insights..

Spent some time at TriGeeks today... trying on a few suits... to date have i have tried Blue Seventy (can't remember model.. likely Helix), Aquasphere IM Racer (women's) and Zoot Fuzion ..

Like the Zoot Fuzion and have one on order... I visited Sasamat Lake and did a test swim earlier tonight.. seems to work fairly well for me..
