I ALMOST DIED!!!!

Veteran  230   Sydney |  Subject: I ALMOST DIED!!!!well not really, but it was a close call... I went climbing yesterday (as i do nearly everyday - school holidays  ) out at berowra, Australia. I was leading up a grade 18 climb when i got to the crucs (the hardest bit). i jammed my hand in a crack to palm off to the next hold - a crimpy side pull, when i touched something soft. That was motivation enough to pull off the move! I looked in the crack...and it was a brown snake coilled up, looking at me!  We took some close up photo's (with the flash of course) as teenagers do, but my camera is broken so as soon as I can find another camera, ill see if they turned out and post them The photo i attatched is where the snake was and where i had to get to, to get away from it .::aidan::. There I was, lazing in the sun and this horrible monster stuck out an enormous appendage and threatened to fling me from my perch. It had these huge eyes, dang it had to be 100 feet tall, just like you see in the horror movies. Go ahead and laugh if you want, but it's no joke man. These things are for real! I was never so scared in my life. I gotta tell ya Ralph, it just ain't safe any more, going out there without some sorta protection or somthin! Glad you are okay though. I have a similar SCUBA diving story. Was diving on a sea mount, swimming along shining my light in the crevases, when I noticed I was looking at a really smooth rock. Then I realized the "rock" had an eye and was looking back at me! It turned out to be a snoozing nurse shark! ( These are bottom feeders, not known to attack anything, so not a threat at all, and probably more scared of me than me of it ). By the time my heart slowed down, I got my dive buddy who swam up and started taking pictures with a strobe. The shark didn't like this too much, and swam further back into the crevase. At that point, I had enough, so we moved on. Still give me a jolt, thinking about it. -Chris |

Yup, and then he would have posted a picture with big red arrows, and said this is where I was, and this is where I had to slither away to to avoid that gargantuan mutant! lol, dana (glad to hear you survived your excursion!!)
