Subject: UBC triatlon

Hey guys, I'm in Victoria and was just wondering if any of you were planning on doing the UBC triathlon or Duathlon in March? Just curious to see if anyone has any info on the event as this will be my first time here.

I know myself and DrLeah are doing the Olympic version.

The early bird registration closes around the 28th of this month I think...that extra $5 saved is for the celebratory beer after the race! Just need to know your swim time before you enter, so they put you in the correct heat.

Sounds like fun, I will be saving the 5$ for the celebratory beer for sure, I will be doing the olympic distance as well.

You people doing the Oly distance are brave brave souls. The UBC tri was my first tri in 2003. I did the short distance and it snowed. I couldn't imagine doing the Oly in the snow. Last year it was nice though.

First time I did UBC was 1987 and have done it a number of times since. I consider it one the best local races ever mainly due to the fact they run so many athletes through in so many different classes, race distances and race types with little or no problem. I have always recommended it as a great first race for anybody. I'm already signed up for 2012.
