So, did anyone do it this year?  Race reports?  I actually biked down that way having forgotten when it was so I got to watch for awhile.  I'd sure like to hear how it went.

A little cooler than last year I bet.

I was there again this year . I thought the conditions were almost perfect. I wore armwarmers on the ride and thought the weather was perfect for running. You can read my race report at http://brandchampions.sugoi.com/. I was 18 minutes faster than last year in the heat .

Cold? You're crazy! Tongue out I thought it was great temp - I even have a nice big sunburn on my shoulders and arms. (and my kids made me stay playing in the lake til 8:30 on Saturday night, so they liked the temp ok too).

I had a good time, but two flats on the bike sort of hurt my momentum. Sure glad I picked a second spare up the day before I left for the race though!

I raced, really enjoyed it. Swim might have been a bit long but the bike course was great, run course was fine and the weather was perfect! Looking forward to next year, think I will bring the family, this year I was flying solo and breezed in and out of town very quickly. Next year I would like to spend a couple of extra days in the area.

Not physically exerting yourself?! Aren't you one of the hardest working officials out there?

Ok, maybe it was cool in the morning - I did have to dig out a hoodie and sweats to keep warm before I started.

As for the event, I thought everything was pretty well layed out. No shortage of port-a-potties on the course, the aid stations were well staffed and stocked, great traffic control. The drafting rules being enforced by triBC (12m) were a bit hard to deal with, and I did get passed by a few groups of 4 or 5 riders working together while I was trying to stick to them, which was a bummer, but that seems common to most races I've been in so far (not many, admittedly).

Overall it was a good weekend, and my whole family had a good time. Lakeside resort was a great place to stay, within a REALLY short walk to every place of importance to the event. And the community seemed really behind the event. It was great to have people coming out of there houses to cheer everyone on all day.

I was there helping with body marking and timing and yeah, for those of us standing around it was a little on the cool side. Perfect racing weather though.

Agreed the 12 meters seems a little ridiculous. Pretty hard to control in an age group event, there were some groups working together but most people seem to be aware it is not allowed and do their best to avoid drafting intentionally.
