Subject: Where on your bike do you mount your GoPro?
Just got a GoPro, gonna go for a ride tomorrow and I'd like to test it out. Any suggestions for where to mount it? It's a family friendly community road ride, so I suppose I'm most interested in catching the fun around me while still making it evident I'm on a bicycle. Nope, I don't have the helmet mount. If you have links to videos, share them here. Thanks, everyone!

I use the handlebar mount.
My camera came with the helmet mount. For your road ride, I would think the helmet would be best as the camera would see what you're looking at.

I have a Contour and mount it on the stem if Road, Cyclocross, or Track, with Tri's under my aero bars, and sometimes on the track under my saddle facing backwards. I just use zip ties.

Here's Lk Steven's 70.3 from last year: http://vimeo.com/45839214

If you look in my Vimeo files you'll see a lot of track racing vids: https://vimeo.com/user9173404

In the pic you can see my camera under the aerobars.

I mounted mine under the top bar one the downtube for the seat-post (Where your water bottle cage would go under your seat)  The lens has a wide enough angle that it was a cool perspective.  Go get a "Chesty" chest mount too..  Here is a quick little motorcycle movie trailer I did using the chest mount.  Although, on a road or tri bike you might need to position the camera differently.

ooOOoh, I like the placement of the Contour under the aerobars!

SoberTriGuy, I feel a little weird about wearing a camera on my chest. I'd kinda feel like a three breasted alien, and I don't want to draw more attention to my chest than I already get! :P

For once I'm glad my Ducati doesn't have a windscreen. I'll have an unobstructed view of the road for the camera!

I put mine on my helmet out mountain biking. Totally caught me look directly at a tree then running right into it. You can hear me screaming like a girl as I go down and then shows the sky as I laid there laughing. On a another crash, my friend gets right in my face. Asks if I'm OK, and asks if I remembered to turn the camera on because "that was AWESOME!!!".

hahaha, Blanda that is awesome! I would totally laugh at myself too.

Is the camera on top of your helmet or to the side? I'm one of those people who gets a little sick watching hand held or really shaky footage so, I'm still thinking handlebars is the way to go.

My falls are so epic, they get celebrated by whoever witnesses them. After they see I'm still alive, of course.

I put it on the front, and usually it's not so bad. It's like you're actually there, especially if you're following someone. Sometimes though I found myself looking down repeatedly to check for issues on my bike, and I'll swing my head once in a while to check my surroundings, but you could easily cut those out, they're few. The shaking I'll get no matter where I put it. A lot of the terrain is rocky.
