Subject: RE: Santa Rosa 70.3 Local races with less travel are ALWAYS worth it even if the road conditions are bumpy on the bike course. If you are going to travel then be picky, but if you have something close by all means do the race. In 2016 I drove 22 hours to St George for Ironman 70.3. No regrets. I stayed with my brother who lives in St. George (this saved a lot of money but seeing family is waht made all the travle worth it. ;-)), got to see the Grand Canyon, Four Corners, Lake Powell, Glen Canyon, etc. so it was a great trip. in 2017 I did the Redman 70.3 in Oklahoma City 2-1/2 hours away from me (and stayed with a guy I knew from our High School Cross Country Team which also was better than spending money for lodging). The Oklahoma Roads were rough, but I will be doing Redman again despite the rough roads because the roads don't make or break a race. Edited by BlueBoy26 2018-01-02 11:10 AM
