Not sure if this is the right place to ask or not but I will start here.

I was just curious what the rankings in a profile signify (expert, extreme expert, regular, etc.)?  Do you have to be performance member for this and is it based on your number of post?

It's just based on post count.

do you need to be a performance member (bronze, silver, gold) to have a ranking?

Nope, it's for everyone.

Rankings are based on post count and length of membership. This is to prevent people from posting a lot very quickly just to change their rank.

Thanks, this explains it.  I was looking at other people who had less post than me and they were ranked as a veteran but I probably have not hit the 60 days yet.

Appreciate your help.

Not to beat a post that's been dead for a couple years, but I had a question about this as well.  I understand the ranks that are based on posts/days registered, but what about some others than I've seen, like Daremo, whose rank is "Cycling Guru", or the bear, whose rank is "Resident Curmudgeon"?  Where do these kinds of ranks come from?

After 6000 posts and 548 (or thereabouts)  days, you're eligible for a custom rank of your choosing.
