Champion 23360 Taser-World | Subject: February Challenge Team Leaders Thread February Challenge Team Leaders ThreadThis thread is for TEAM CAPTAINS only!If you're not a Team Captain, please post your question on your team thread. Your team leader and teammates may know the answer to your questions, and/or be able to help you. Then, if your Captain isn't able to answer, then he/she should come here to post the question for me. PLEASE limit this thread to Captains only. I'm extremely stressed at work. I've been putting in very long days, 7 days a week. Therefore, I won't be able to check the forum as often as I'd like. By putting up this "Team Captains Thread," I'll be less likely to miss a question or something of importance. Thank you! I don't like to do this, as I prefer Dee Edited by D001 2008-02-10 7:56 PM |

Champion 23360 Taser-World | Subject: RE: February Challenge Team Leaders Thread Challenge update: We currently have 125 people participating in the challenge. I've made the teams larger than they were last month. I did this because we're using Google spreadsheets, and people generally seem to be able to log their own data. That said, if you find yourself pressed for time - please feel free to appoint an Assistant Captain to help you out! I hope to have the team spreadsheets by tomorrow. I'll give you links to them once their on Google. For reporting, the weeks will run as follows: Feb 1 - 9 Feb 10 - 16 Feb 17 - 23 Feb 24 - 29 Please note: The week will end on Saturday. This will allow me to compile the results on Sunday. Thanks! Dee |

Once again a wonderful job of coordinating, compiling and getting the spreadsheets developed... You are Awesome! So not that I am trying to hammer it out day one or anything, but what do we want to make our negative and positive effects for this month? Should we do a double wammy of avatar AND tagline this time? |

Champion 23360 Taser-World | Subject: RE: February Challenge Team Leaders Thread 1for1 - 2008-02-02 10:25 PM So not that I am trying to hammer it out day one or anything, but what do we want to make our negative and positive effects for this month? Should we do a double wammy of avatar AND tagline this time? That's all been stated already - in the challenge announcement. Once people sign up for the challenge, I kind of see it like a "contract." They agree to do the declared penalty if they lose (or reward if they win), but I wouldn't feel comfortable changing/revising it once they "signed" the agreement, if you know what I mean. So here's what the announcement says: This will be a Team Challenge. The winning team(s) will display a signature line: "My team won the February Challenge!" All other (losing) teams will display the avatar of the team that LOSES Super Bowl XLII. Avatars will be displayed for the month of March. After that, it's your choice whether to leave it, or remove it. The Challenge will begin on February 1st, and end on February 29th. In the event of injury/illness, you may request to be dropped from the challenge, without penalty. If you achieve 100% of your goal before the month is over, you may request to raise your goal. At the end of the month, the winning team will be the team with the highest completion rate. All training must be logged in your BT Training Log, by SATURDAY evening, your time. If it’s not logged and reported, it didn’t happen! I think fear of changing to the losing team pic as an avatar is a pretty good motivator for many people, at least! Champion 23360 Taser-World | Subject: RE: February Challenge Team Leaders Thread I've added a "Track your progress" box to all of the spreadsheets! You do NOT need to do anything. It will update automatically. (In other words, do not update it!) It takes "today's date" from the computer, and calculates the percentage of the month that has passed so far. This will help you see if you're on track towards hitting your goal. For example, today is Feb 3rd. So the month is 10% completed. All of this shows up in the "peach colored box" on your team spreadsheet. - Dee Edited by D001 2008-02-03 11:54 AM |

If so, we can move 'em to the Swim Team. (I can say that because I'm not swimming this month. LOL) |

Master 1989 New Jersey | Subject: RE: February Challenge Team Leaders Thread Artemis - 2008-02-04 12:05 PM Question from a team member: does walking a certain distance count towards a running goal? The general rule is walking, eliptical, etc. count towards running, as long as the participant included it as such in their goal. |

Champion 23360 Taser-World | Subject: RE: February Challenge Team Leaders Thread Artemis - 2008-02-04 12:05 PM Question from a team member: does walking a certain distance count towards a running goal? If they planned their goal to include walking, then yes. (Or, if they have an injury and need to walk, rather than run - then yes.) The same holds true for ellipticals. If they calculated their "run goal" using "elliptical time/miles," then they can "ellipticalize." I try to allow people to set their goals based upon what they'll be doing during the month. The same is true for swimming and biking. If they plan their swim goal WITH kickboard drills, then kicking counts. If they plan their goal for NO drills, then drills don't count. Etc. For example: "Jane" wants to ride this month. However, she only owns a unicycle. So she plans her goal as "do 500 miles on the unicycle." Therefore, all "unicycle time" counts. MotoQueen 13195 | Subject: RE: February Challenge Team Leaders Thread Dee, I noticed that the date on the Swimming Rocks spreadsheet is off. Today is the 15th of the month and the little peach box says that it is the 14th so the percentage showing is off. I think this could throw off someone who is watching that percentage to see where they stand for the month. I hadn't noticed until last night Frank mentioned where he was compared to the percentage and I said my team spreadsheet had a different percentage and sure enough theirs had the right day and mine did not. And I don't know how to change that formula...so help! |

But that meant the box stopped updating automatically. I've put the formulas back in. So it will update automatically again. |

What's the verdict on her reducing her mileage? Hi Jen, Sorry for the delay in replying. I was offline for a few days. (Yes, because of work....) Don't update anything yet.... When Stacie is able to run again, subtract the number of days that she missed, and adjust her mileage accordingly. For example, say she misses 8 days: 29 - 8 = 21 days during February that she *could* run. 21/29 = 72.4% So her adjusted goal would be 72.4% of her original goal. How's that for a plan? Dee |

If she is, I'm ok with her subtracting the mileage she missed on those workouts. Or adjusting the training plan, and recalculating her goal based on the revision. Whatever works best for her is OK. |
