Well, April was decent and the totals were with a week of travel to a conference. Not really a great time to travel, but it's ok. Did an HIM 4/13 and I think that was a good thing to do pre-IM. I am psyched and scared to death all at the same time Edited by COgirl 2008-04-30 8:02 PM |

Veteran 133 Houston, TX | Subject: RE: IM CDA - 2 Months to go! April went well, the weather started to cooperate a little more. I only missed one workout which was a 45-min run, no big deal. May Goals: Accomplish all key workouts, do at least one 2.4 mile swim, maybe more, eat healthy, lose at least the 2 lb I gained in the past few weeks and stay motivated! (shouldn't be too hard since it is so close now!)

Expert 1207 Liberty Lake, WA | Subject: RE: IM CDA - 2 Months to go! Rest is a very important part of IM training and most people do not get enough. To ensure that I do not become overtrained I have taken 19 rest days this month. Yep, 19 days of no swimming, 19 days of no biking, 19 days of no running, simply 19 days of nothing. The truth is I was very sick this month and basically had the crap kicked out of me. I'm feeling better now, still not 100% but close. Bike = 18:08 Goal for May = Don't get sick |

Champion 5345 Carlsbad, California | Subject: RE: IM CDA - 2 Months to go! Feeling great about how my training is going. I am right in the middle fo a cutback week and will spend the rest of May in a final 4 week build cycle. My run is solid, my bike is coming around but still needs a bit of work, and my swim is way ahead of where I thought it would be. (I am totally recovered and swimming just about as fast and far as I did last year before IMLP)
Total: 78h 41m 51s |

Member 78 Hayden, ID | Subject: RE: IM CDA - 2 Months to go! Wow - Can't believe how close we are! April went by fast, but I bet May will be even quicker! Totals for me are as follows: Bike: 29.3 hrs - 521.4 miles Run : 17.3 hrs - 118.6 miles Swim: 8.2 Hrs - 24,750 yds The CDA Press just had an article in regards to the IM swim and water temps. Not to scare everyone - just to prepare you all: http://www.cdapress.com/articles/2008/04/30/news/news04.txt I think I'll be taking some cold showers in order to prepare! Good luck in May everyone. |

Pro 3906 St Charles, IL | Subject: RE: IM CDA - 2 Months to go! As I recall from another thread, the water temps for this time of year are normal, and will warm up before the race in 2 months, that this same cycle happens every year. I'm not worried. April was good month, here's the final tally:
A little light on run volume as I had a 10k in there ( plus a taper for it ), as well as making my focus the bike. The training camp in Tucson was just what the doctor ordered. I got in some huge rides, and feel a lot better about my cycling fitness now than I did at the start of the month. It just took a few long outdoor rides to translate the Computrainer fitness into "real" biking fitness and get used to riding on the road again. Goals for May: Bike: same volume as April Starting things off with a big weekend ( 2h run on Sat, 6:45 ride on Sun ). :D |

Here are my stats, I compared to April of 2007 and I am almost dead on with last year. April's totals: Bike: 25h 38m - 449.97 Mi Run: 16h 10m 39s - 108.12 Mi Swim: 9h 30m - 31800 Yd Strength: 5h 50m |

April's totals: Bike: 27h 56m - 511.4 Mi Run: 18h 29m - 134.53 Mi Swim: 11h 47m - 34370 Yd FINALLY able to get outside for some long rides and have been focusing on hills. Knock on wood, everything seems to be coming together and I'm feeling good. Only 3 big volume (20-ish hours) weeks left.......I'm hoping we get some warmer weather here in W. Michigan real soon so I can test my nutrition/hydration plan in more realistic race day conditions. Water temps of mid to upper 50's will feel right at home for us Lake Michigan swimmers I am curious though about the reference to neoprene booties in the linked article above. I always thought that ANY footwear was forbidden? Keep it up folks, we are on the home stretch!! |

Master 1551 Virginia Beach, VA | Subject: RE: IM CDA - 2 Months to go! After spending the weekend in ID at IM training camp; I definitely don't feel ready for CDA; but I think I have a good idea of what I need to do to get ready. I was very afraid of the bike course, but now that I've ridden it I know it's just a matter of me getting a little bit stronger. I have lots of hilly rides scheduled for this month including a century ride with 10,000 ft of climbing. Here are my totals for April: Bike: 25h 00m - 401.35 Mi Run: 16h 58m 33s - 86.3 Mi Swim: 7h 25m - 18300 Yd Strength: 4h 05m Hopefully I can stay healthy in May and get all those hill rides done. |

Champion 19812 MA | Subject: RE: IM CDA - 2 Months to go! I'm not doing IMCDA but have booties from Promotion Wetsuits that I have used in many races when the water is in the 50's. They fit snug and don't effect my swimming...I'm a BOPer so it may effect others differently. Ata many of the tris I have had them tons of folks ask me about them and I could made a small fortune selling them. |

Master 1551 Virginia Beach, VA | Subject: RE: IM CDA - 2 Months to go! I have the Promotion booties also; but I'm pretty sure that they said at camp that they are not allowed in the IM. The race director was there and I'm pretty sure that came from him. |

Master 1472 | Subject: RE: IM CDA - 2 Months to go! Overall APril was good for me. I missed my swim goal by a bit and definitely can not let that happen this month. Got in some good, quality bike time in April. I dont go out the door without pointing the bike up a hill. Lots of hills and I try to always ride in zone 2 and above. I had a really good run focus week that helped my totals a lot. Got in 45 miles that week with no injury or pain so I think my run base is solid.
May is go big month! Swim 13 hours Goals are simple- dont miss a workout, stay healthy, eat good, lose weight. Train safe everyone! |

Expert 762 San Antonio, TX | Subject: RE: IM CDA - 2 Months to go! Made all my workouts. May is gearing up with LOTS of bricks. Still trying to bring my running around and it's taking patience as I'm still feeling the old injury twinge every once in a while. For the bike I want to stay in the hills and work on staying in a harder gear but with runs following most of my bikes that's a tough order to follow. May tweak the schedule a little to get a couple of these in.

Albuquerque, NM | Subject: RE: IM CDA - 2 Months to go! The water tempe at Lake Mead for the Rage in the Sage HIM was 57* and it really wasn't that bad. The worst part is when your face hits the water for the first time and it will take your breath away, but stay calm and wtihin a couple of minutes you'll be fine (I need to keep reminding myself this). I'm hoping it won't be windy and the possibility of them cancelling the swim again. |

Master 1927 Chicago | Subject: RE: IM CDA - 2 Months to go! I had a kick A** month if I do say so myself. And this is with running a youth tri camp, work, getting engaged and doing a HIM. Milestones all around including farthest on bike, in pool and running. I've swam 3 miles more than once and love my new coach who just whipped my arse in shape. Do I feel ready for IMCdA? Yes. Mostly because it doesn't seem like so much of a pipe dream. Still work to do but not as much.
GOALS FOR MAY: I've got four centuries in May including riding the IMCdA bike course over Memorial Day Weekend and one in training and the rest are organized rides. Goal: Avg. 14.5 mph on ALL 100+ rides Nail bike nutrition Complete a mini IM: 3,000 swim, followed by 5 hr bike, follwed by 2 hr run. Stay healthy. Get rest and love on myself! |

Extreme Veteran 427 St. Louis, MO | Subject: RE: IM CDA - 2 Months to go! I'm just counting my lucky stars I am still healthy and training regularly after the way my winter has been! Long bike ride is up over 90 miles at this point......only one century planned this time Long run is up over 2 hours at this point........a couple more 2.5 and 3 hour runs still in plan The swim is going to be what it will........ And I have my two "key weekends" yet to come.......TTT and a my LONG brick of 100 x 10..... I get the above done, I should be o.k. to go......not expecting much but I should still have a solid race given all the challenges of this spring weather-wise and injury-wise, I have to be realistic.... As for the lastest water temp update....... 6 degree Celsius = 42.8 degree Fahrenheit source: http://waterdata.usgs.gov/id/nwis/uv?cb_00010=on&format=gif_default... |

April's totals: Bike: 23h 43m 26s - 261.56 Mi Run: 14h 13m 17s - 79.39 Mi Swim: 6h 45m - 15412 Yd Strength: 1h 00m Kickboxing: 1h 00m Not as impressive as others, but I trust my coach, so as long as I do what he says, I should be ok! I hope! I have upped my swim and am working on becoming faster on the bike. Those are my weak areas. This month I have a couple OWS planned that should help with my panic in the water! I need all the bike time I can get! I swim fine, just slow, but when I get in the water, I freak and do whatever it takes just to finish- usually breast stroke in the back of the pack! I just can't believe how close it is! It seems I am learning so much now that I wish I had known a year ago when I started this journey! Number one- what was I thinking picking a race the same month I am trying to finish my Masters! Bad enough juggling 2 kids, hubby, job and now school wants time too! All I keep thinking is I have to finish this because I don't want to go through all this again! It's crazy- but a good kind of crazy! Tanya |
