Subject: Flowing Lake Tri
Hey there! My first tri was supposed to be this weekend at the Five Mile Lake event but a nasty bout of bronchitis knocked me on my a** this week. Murphy's Law, I guess. So now I'm looking to try Flowing Lake in September. Anyone else also training for this one?

Everything works out for a reason. Now instead of rushing to get fit in time for the race, I can focus on my attitude, breathing, and technique. I literally worked myself to death and have no forced my body to take a rest. (which is REALLY hard to co, by the way) I'm anxious to get back into training but I know taking it slow will be a challenge.

Anyway, I'm curious if anyone in the area will be attending the same event in September or if anyone has completed Flowing Lake. Any tips?

Thanks!
Annie

I am going to do the Flowing Lake race. I live nearby so I am exited to not have an hour drive. I've never done this race (I am a new guy to this sport too) Tomorrow at Lake Padden will be my second race. By the time Flowing Lake comes it will be my 5th or 6th.

Tips: This web site has been really helpful for me. There's a lot here! I use the search tool often to look at old discussions about topics I have questions on. Regarding Flowing Lake; the water should be nice and warm by Sept. unless summer ends next month.

Getting sick is no fun.  I hope you start feeling better soon.

See you at Flowing Lake!

I did this one last September. It's a great race in a nice out-of-the-way place. You can camp at the race site the night before (definitely make reservations) if you like. There are even a few cabins to rent, I think (again, check with the parks dept). This race is limited to 200 entrants by the parks department, and it filled up last year, so if you haven't registered already, DO SO NOW!

I put together a map-my-ride for the bike course that's publicly viewable (and I think there's a map-my-tri out there as well) -- it IS a bit hilly, so be ready for that. The run is completely in the park, and is two full laps of the perimeter road (again, hilly, but short).

I'm registered for this race, but won't be able to do it, so I'll be giving my entry away at some point in the not-too-distant future (yes, I've already arranged with the RD, who is a good friend of mine, to be able to transfer my entry). I'll be doing the same for Satsop as well really soon (look for it next week).

So, who's racing tomorrow? I'm not, but my wife is. I will be taking pictures, cheering and wrangling the kiddos. Good luck everyone!
