Subject: New Bike Time?

Just a brief question on bikes.

What is everyone riding and how do you like it?

Looking at getting a new bike and I have a couple in mind but just wanted to get a poll and see if there are any regrets on your purchases.  There is a tax free Holiday coming up in Mass. so that could be a bargain not to have to pay uncle sam (sorry Scott, no check for you that week). Also heard that Bike prices next year will jumping so may push my purchase to this year much to my wife's regrets.

I am Looking at some entry level Carbon Bikes for around $2500 (yikes)

Thoughts...

My suggestions:

QR (look at the Lucero/Seduza/Caliente)
Orbea (love this brand, Ordu will be my next bike but is really expensive, check price on Ora)
Cervelo (P2c or P2sl, new models should be out soon thereby dropping the price of last years models)
Specialized (as long as you stay away from the s-works pros you should stay in price)

My personal favorite, as stated above, is the Orbea Ordu. I plan to buy the frame and move my current components over. This is a great way to afford a more expensive frame. Of course I have a DA/Ultegra mix that will work fine. Specialized and QR have some decently priced full bikes. Most of the companies shift last years model down one notch (see the Cervelo P2C) the next year. This may be the reason for the price increase you are hearing about. It actually won't increase in price, just that the the new version of the same model is actually a much better (see much more expensive) version.

Not sure if this helps. If you find a Orbea bike dealer in Mass. let me know, might pay you to buy me a frame!!

Been out riding bikes...

Kuota K-Factor:  The fit was not quite right, top tube too long made it seem wrong for all the adjustments it needed

Orbea Ora: WOW what a machine, I think it went faster than me! Fit was great and comfortable, it moves to the top of the A-List.

QRoo-Seduza: Can not find a dealer with any in stock. If they order it, I own it. Not a great way for them to do business.

Felt B-12: One coming in in my size to ride next week

Cannondale slice: Great deal on the Bike on sale, nice frame but comes with only 105 components.

BMC Time Machine: Nice looking bike for the price, but I wanted to move into an all carbon frame. Help ease the ride on my old bones!

For any one looking to upgrade, great time to go out and start cutting deals with the shops on the '08 bikes.
