So I had to laugh looking at the IMLOU site, it has a 'historical weather' box - it said that last year on Aug. 31st the high was 86 and it was cloudy. A frick'n week earlier we MELTED in the low 90's and sun. In 06 the high was 77 & it was cloudy. Wouldn't that be a dream day?!?!?!

Just thought I would mention that everyone should be prepared to up your salt (endurolytes, etc.) intake during the race if need be. I did a 2 hr run here in Louisville yesterday and it was HOT.

Well, here in Dallas, we have been training in 100+ degree heat. I'm ready. The humidity is about 1/2 as much though here, so that has me a bit concerned.

All I know is that a change of socks will be in my special needs run bag. 13 miles of running in heat and humidity... my socks and shoes will be soaked. Which means blisters. I'm not finishing a marathon on blisters... so fresh socks will be waiting for me.

Yeah, then watch...race day will be the same weather as IMWI 06.  COLD, RAINY AND WINDY.

Just our luck right?

I have been making my kids ride around w/o the air on in the car (it's been around 90 & about the same humidity here) - I think I'd better start saving for all the therapy they will need later in life!

Oh yeah, we've changed over to a diet completley of Hammer products. Now that there are a few new flavors of HEED there is less complaining. The sugar of the gels work well to amp them up after extreme fatigue from the heat.
Did I mention I "asked" them to do a water stop for me next week during my long run?

Okay, you just freaked me out with the HEED comment! I thought that Ironman was serving HEED. Whew, breathe Bob, just breathe . In with the good air, out with the bad.

You are an evil person!

Its supposed to 100* on Monday the 4th. I would not count on mid 70's, but this is the Ohio valley and the weather changes weekly.

Hey Tim, how's the water quality in the river these days?

For those of you that don't know why I'm asking, Tim has the fanciest water quality computer in all the land.

River water quality is just about perfect, for a river. Let's hope it stays that way. When you folks get to town drink plenty of tap water. The AWWA voted The Louisville Water Co. the best tasting water in the US for 2008.

Do you flavor it with barley and hops?

No wrong part of the country, we flavor it with sour mash and age it in charred oak barrels

I swim in Texas lakes. They are GROSS! Yesterday I was told to not stand around on shore as I would get leaches on me. Then while we were swimming, someone came in contact with a river rat or some sort.

So, I'm sure the Ohio River will be fine as my standards are very low.
