Subject: wireless computer?
I'm looking for a bike computer with cadence. Is it really worth the premium to get wireless? I do have a brand new bike, so I guess you can say it shud have the latest and greatest. Then again, I'm pretty broke from the bike purchase

I went wireless a few years back after having three wired computers fail because the wire broke or got pulled out of the unit.

Haven't had a wireless one fail yet.

You can get relatively cheap inexpensive wireless computers from Nashbar and Performance that work fine.  I prefer wireless since you don't ever have to deal with the wires getting pulled out.  I used to use a wired computer for cadence, but once I got the feel for 90 prm, I switched over and haven't looked back.

The only bike I run wired now is my "spare" that I use on the trainer so I can see how far I've pedaled.  It has a rear pick-up,which wireless don't do.

X2 on the cadence.  It's a nice tool at first, but you get the feel for what your doing after a while

Since I'm still a noob and like the cadence feature, I have a Cateye v2c. Great computer. Not cheap though. Had a Sigma wireless before that , did not work well at all and I ended up returning it.

I have purchased 2 wireless computers for myself personally and found they interfered with my heart rate montior.  Upon inquiring with other athletes and shop owners, I have found that to be a frequent problem.  (not all the time, but worth considering when making your purchase)  I run wired on all my bikes now.

I don't use my wireless computer any more because it seems that all the electricals in my house interfere with it.  It won't shut down because of the interference and thus the battery goes dead.  It is frustrating to be dead still but have your computer tell you that you are moving.  Once I am away from the house, it isn't a problem.  I suspect it is just the cheap computer that I have but I would be hesitant to go wireless again.

swapped out my Cateye wired Astrale 8 (w/cadence) that failed for a wireless Cateye Strada from Performance last wkend...... very happy so far.... as several have said, if you already have a general idea of what yur cadence is, wireless is a good way to go. If not, lotsa wired ones available for low $. Good luck and enjoy your bike.
