Phil Dallhauser after the heavily favored American men's beach volleyball team lost in a stunning straight set match to Latvia (ranked 23rd of 24 in the games) during pool play. Dallhauser, who is considered by many to be the strongest male volleyball player in the world, had a really, really bad match. They can still win gold... I wish I had been able to find a picture of the two Latvian players, because they were amazing. They used a different strategy, hustled, and refused to be intimidated and it paid off.  |
