This is for the few of us about to race... and for those racing in 2009...

Don't change your pedals a month out from your race.

I thought the switch would be pretty easy because I was just going from Speedplays where you cannot adjust the float... to Speedplays with adjustable float. Wrong! Not easy!

My left leg has been in pain ever since. First it was the top of the knee. Then the inside of the knee. And I have odd lower leg pain has not gone away for days now (but has been a reoccuring pain in the past).

I feel like such an IDIOT for doing that! Really. What the h@ll was I thinking?

I switched back to my old Speedplay pedals today and now I'm all paranoid the cleats weren't put back in the right place and I'll continue to have knee pain. I'm so worried now.

I want to kick myself for being so dumb.

So if you want to share the "what not to do a month out from your race" stories... feel free. At the very least you will make me feel a bit better about my stupid decision.

On a side note, I have some very nice Speeplay Zero's for sale!

Put a screwdriver in your pocket and go out on the road...ride, adjust, ride, adjust, etc until it feels comfortable/right.

My bolt holding my seat broke the other week and I've been doing ^^^^^^^^^^ ever since.. just can't seem to get it right.  any changes in the last two weeks in any part of your life will throw you for a serious loop

Eh, I've already switched the pedals out. Honestly, I didn't like the ones with the adjustable float. They were so hard to get in/out of.

I love my cheap Speedplays!

i ride zeros too and i think that you can adjust the small screws on the side of the cleats to make the zeros have 0 float.  all you need to do is screw the small screws all the way in and the float is gone and the pedals should be easier to get in and out of.  if my info is wrong, someone please correct me.

Oh, I'm sure you can. But I like my cheap Speeplays better. I'm selling those off to get my money back, as I had to buy 2 pairs of pedals for both my bikes.

Still so, they are very hard to clip in/out of.

A week before IMWI last year I threw out my back loading and unloading hay. I couldn't walk a step on Monday before the race. Thank God for the ART Therapists at the race and especially in T2. 5 min of my 8:00 transition was spent on the ART table.

Now to this year, everything has been going great until today I was having fun in a lake with my son and did something to my shoulder. I'm still not sure what I did but I'm having a lot of pain if I try to raise my elbow.

JeepFleeb - 2008-08-14 7:00 PM Other than swimming, biking or running - no more physical activity for Bob within 2 months of his races!

If I could schedule 6 IM races per year I'd be golden!! I have to let my wife and boss in on this new "rule"!!
