I got a report this weekend that the Celina Loop is now 90% chip seal.

Sounds like they finally ruined one of the smoothest roads (FM1385) to ride in the entire area.

Anyone able to confirm / provide specifics?

Yes.  Rode it on Saturday.  1385 & 455 are chip sealed.  And it's very rough chip seal.  I guess they are finished with the road.  Although it seems like they need to put another coat on it.  The rocks aren't very close together and that's what makes it rough.

man that was fast.. it was just a couple of weeks ago that i saw all the rocks on the side of the road. did they also do that fishtrap road, that was a road that needed some help.

Does this mean the Saturday starbucks at Teel and Main ride will have a new route??

This is so depressing.  I figured it would take them months to finish not a week.  I thought I could get at least through the summer riding there.  Now it is either ride chipseal on Saturday or deal with traffic around home.

Fishtrap is still pothole city, but sadly that was the best part of my ride on Saturday. That was a bad sign when I was excited to hit Fishtrap and get off 1385 to head home. Also, FYI, there are lots of flying pieces of chipseal that I got hit with repeatedly on 1385 from passing cars. I took a big piece to the leg and have a large bruise now on my shin from being dinged with that as a truck went by.

I bet the locals are just loving this.  They hope that cyclist will avoid their place now.
