I live in Channahon Illinois and just recieved word that 3 of our areas State Parks will be closing on Nov. 1st due to our beloved Governors budget cuts. They are The Channahon State Park, Gebhard Woods in Morris and Illini in Marseilles. These three Stae Parks are great assets to our community and it would be a huge mistake if they were to close. Equally important is the Illinois and Michigan Canal which connects these three parks. It is a crushed limestone path and serves as a great training path for all of our area athletes including high school x country teams and home to The Prarie State Roadrunners Club for more than 20 years. I enclosed a phone number and ask if you have a few minutes to call and voice your opposition to these proposed closings. Thanks so much for all of your help. Gotta love IL politics.  I hope it doesn't go nationwide.  Sad.

Another park slated to close by our disgusting human feces of a governor is Moraine View State Park where the Tri-Shark race is held each year.

So I have a question.

What does it mean to close a state park?  Does that mean that nobody can go to it.  At all?  It then becomes "No tresspass" property?  Or does it just mean that it is untended property that people can still visit?

I honestly don't know.

Does anyone have a link to get more info on this? What a great loss these closings will be to our state. Hard to believe it's come to this. Can hardly wait until our Gov is outta there.

Oh wow!!! Lowden State Park in Oregon has been one of my favorite motorcycle-riding destinations...I'm very sad to see this park close. The statue of Chief Blackhawk is really magnificent and something to see. I will surely make one last trek out there to admire the gorgeous view of the Rock River from the park.

ETA - the link didn't work for me.
