Subject: Duke 1/2 Bike Question
Anybody know the exact mileage for the Duke 1/2 bike course. I remember hearing somewhere that it was 1 mile long, so 57 miles. I like to know so I can figure out what average speed required to make my goal bike split (of 3 hours). Then during the race, I watch my average speed. Of course, I'll also watch my HR and back off of my goal if I am going to hard.

to my knowledge it's 56.  My advice to you is go easier on the bike and run faster on the run. Particularly this run.  By the way, the last 5 miles really are up hill

looked back at the two nonrace rides on that course and got 55.7 on them starting just outside the gate at the park.  It's probably a little over 56, but not quite to 57.  If you average 19mph you will do slightly better than 3 hours.

My bike computer had 56.75 on it after the race. I don't know how accurate my computer is though since I just mounted it the day before after my garmin died on me.

Mine said 57.31, but that includes back to my car which was parked about 200 feet away. I checked it right before I put my bike on the rack. A friend of mine posted 57.25 on his blog.
