I've been using the route manager to find distances to run.But I'm running a hilly course in November and would like to train on hills. What is considered a decent hill? And yes, I expect plenty of sarcastic comments! And I know that everyone's perspective is different. So just throw it at me as what you think is a tough climb!

You should find out the grade/length of the hills that your race has and try to simulate those as best you can.  Being capable of dealing with a hill that has a 1% steeper grade and of similar length to those that you are going to encounter during the race is probably a good benchmark.

Hill repeats can come in handy if you don't have access to that kind of terrain near you.

Any hill is tough for me to run, but I consider a really tough hill one where I have to look down and just run, rather than look at the top of the hill and wonder why it's barely getting any closer.  Hard hills are kind of like the layman's view of inappropriate material.  It can't really be described, but you'll know it when you see it.  My version of hill "he11" is in my album showing the bike route I take for training sometimes.

Mile 5 of the Wildflower HIM is a heartbreaker.  Mile 11 is just cruel

Pikes Peak/Barr Trail is a tough climb. Vertical rise of close to 8000 feet in 13 miles. Manitou Incline near the base of Barr Trail (but a separate trail) is even tougher, going up 2000 feet in a mile.

OK, those are kinda extreme. Many (most) races around here are hilly. The Garden of the Gods 10 miler goes up and down a few hundred feet several times - almost nothing flat on the course.

My standard daily route includes a hill of about 250 feet, but the grade isn't too bad. The grade of a climb may be more of a toughness factor than the elevation gain. Short steep hills can be much tougher than longer inclines.

Do you have an elevation profile of the course you're racing? Try to find hills similar to that. Put a hill at the end of a longer run to make you work hard when you're tired. Don't forget that running lots of downhill can be taxing so train on that as well.
