Sunny
Total Time = 1h 22m 36s
Overall Rank = 27/272
Age Group = F30-34
Age Group Rank = 11/61
Pre-race routine:

I had a horrible night's sleep after waking up every 30 minutes because I thought I was going to oversleep. Had my usual powerbagel and PB and a banana. Gel 20 minutes before swim start.

Drove with KrisTtris to the race. I love having a next door neighbor/friend/training/racing partner!
Event warmup:

Just a quick stroke about to feel the water. Not as cold as last week.
Swim
  • 15m 50s
  • 820 yards
  • 01m 56s / 100 yards
Comments:

Water time was 14:14.
This swim was not my best. I think I need to warm up more. My legs felt like lead the first part and I just couldn't find my line. I felt great on the back side, but was really confused once I rounded the turn-around buoy about where I was swimming to. I knew I was near the front, but had lost the lead pack and was all alone in the middle.
What would you do differently?:

Warm up. Start doing Masters.
Transition 1
  • 02m 30s
Comments:

This transition was LONG and narrow along a roadway, 1/4 mile to be exact. They did have the run and bike at opposite ends. I was racked at the end near the bike exit, which worked out great. I'm pleased with this transition considering it included a 1/4 mile run! I had the 4th fastest T1 rank in my age group.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Bike
  • 32m 59s
  • 12 miles
  • 21.83 mile/hr
Comments:

3rd fastest bike time in my age-group (but see below). I came out of the water about 10th. I hit the bike and hammered it. My quads were still really tired from last week's Harvest Moon and mtn biking on Thursday, but I felt great. I was out there with all the boys(their waves went first) and passed about 5 women in my AG! I felt great. All the extra biking has paid off. I guess riding more really DOES make you faster. DID YOU SEE MY AVERAGE SPEED! That's per race results!
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, really. Just make sure my race wheels don't have a flat next time so I can use them!
Transition 2
  • 01m 55s
Comments:

5th fastest T2 time in my age group. This time included the 1/4 mile run once again. It was nice to run this with my running shoes on this time!
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Run
  • 29m 24s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 09m 27s  min/mile
Comments:

So when I came in so fast on the bike, I KNEW that some of those girls were going to pass me on the run. I held my own for about the first 1.5 miles, then a woman came running by at a 7:30 pace and I knew I had no way to stick with her. Overall, about 5 girls in my AG passed me on the run. I just couldn't hang with them. I will say, I was mostly out there with all men and it was very nice to have some eye candy during this run!

I felt pretty good, no cramps, side-stitches, just cramped calves at the beginning on the hill.
What would you do differently?:

I probably could have pushed this a bit harder in the middle. I'm always so afraid of running out of steam or getting a side cramp.
Post race
Warm down:

There was NO WATER at the end of this race. I had to go over to the run start to find some. Walked around and cheered KrisTtris on and then found COgirl.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My legs were fatigued for the bike and I need to swim Master's so I can get into sprinting mode faster on these swims. My swim times have really decreased on races this year.

Event comments:

So, after looking at all the race results, I discovered that I would have placed 3rd in EVERY AGE GROUP BUT MINE!!!!!!! I placed 11th in my age group and I'M BITTER! Get out of my age group you fast Beeotches! I was top 10% out of all women and top 25% overall, including men. It was a good race, I felt fast and I set another PR....but how in the world does that get me 11th!!!!!!!!

Maybe when I age up next year, some of the fast women will stay put. I sure hope so! Or I'm just going to have to get faster!

It was a good way to end the season. I had so much fun with Kristi and Cathy and I couldn't have asked for a better group to race with. I love BT and all my friends from here!

Congrats on a great race and PR.  You were smokin' on the bike.  Enjoy your youth and be proud of being 11th in your age group.  Sometimes I get to be first and last in mine because I'm the only old lady out there!

Your race splits highly resemble mine - good swim, good bike, slow run. Are we sisters???

Nice job though! Glad you finished out your season with a good race and good friends!

Great job out there-- phenomenal bike!

No offense, but I hope the speedsters age up with you because that's my age group next year.

The whole race looks great to me!  I think a good goal for me is to be as fast as you someday...but don't worry, I am never going to be in your age group
