I know, the correct answer is go sit on one but that requires a 3 hour drive so I'm trying to get an idea which would fit be better, a 51cm or 54cm. I'm 5'8-9" (depending on the day) with a 30in inseam. I ride a 53cm lemond as it is. I was looking at the geometry of the two and as might be expected my bike is right between the two. Just wondering if anyone has some numbers (heights, bike sizes) that I can compare to to get an idea.

If your 53cm Lemond is in between the two, then my initial reaction would be to put you on the 51 from Cervelo because for a TT bike you want to have a little bit shorter top tube generally.  The last thing you want to do is to be more stretched out and trying to get a decent aero position that generates appropriate power.

Again, as you've said, you'll have a much better sense when you sit on it and try to get positioned.

I saw a review on the P2C from someone a little shorter then me with he same inseam say that the 54cm had them a little stretched out which made me think 51cm would work best.

and keep in mind that some Lemonds, (like mine) have a sloping top tube and Lemonds Top tubes, from what i have read and understand, are a bit on the longer side than other bikes. I would also say go the 51 route. But Daremo is correct, you probably should sit on one.

Im a little taller than you and I was btwn the sizes so I went with a different brand all together. Based on what you wrote and having tried both sizes I will say that unless your flexibility is awful go with the 51.

But you should really get on both before you make the purchase.

My next question is should I spend the money on wheels instead?

I went with an Orbea Ordu. I was working and riding for a shop at that point so I had to go with what they sold/wanted us to ride. I went with a 51 Orbea (has a 53 Top Tube). There is probably a bike out there that fits better than both but thats what my choices were.

I am 5'8" with a 32" inseam and ride the 54cm P2C.  I could go with a slightly shorter stem to get a better angle at my elbow but I will ride it for a while before I decide to make any changes.   I am very comfortable on it.

1. Get fit.

2. Erring on going a hair too small or a hair too big: go small.

3. I was fit on a 51 P2 and I'm 5' 8 1/2", 30" inseam (but don't own a cervelo yet)
