Subject: Pain in Shin bones
I have just started running again after not running for a few months (recovering from a knee injury) I have noticed that on the inside of my lower legs the bone really hurts. It is sensitive to the touch and can be uncomfortable to walk. I am starting to become a little concerned. does anyone know what could be causing it or how to help it?

Do a search for "shin splints".  Not a specific or a medical term but it will bring up plenty of information that will help you assess your injury further.

I'm dealing with shin pain too and I've found that really stretching the calf muscle (before, during and after workouts) really helps.

i would be careful if it is a targeted spot -- if its all over the shin bone, more likely shin splints then a stress fracture, but if it is one concentrated spot, that is painful to press on, could be a stress fracture.  one test i have heard is, if you can jump on one foot up and down 10 times w/o it hurting, then it is just shin splints (i don't remember where i read this though).  . i had  a painful spot on the inside of my shin, and i ultimatly took 6 weeks off from running and then eased back into it.  i also bought THE STICK, which is great for massaging every part of my lower leg and i think that helped a lot.

Agree with the checking for an isolated spot.  If there is one spot that hurts way more than the others to touch, there's a good chance it is a stress fracture.  I thought mine was shin splints at first and then it got a lot worse and there was definitely one spot that was more painful than the rest.  I was out 8 weeks before it fully healed and I could start rehab.
