Subject: RE: Swim Caps and Long hairCut off some of that hair!  Seriously, once your training increases you'll be glad it's shorter because it'll always be wet otherwise. I have longish hair too (and a frizzy mess on top of it) and keep it just around shoulder-length. That way it's long enough to tie back or make a braided ponytail (which is much easier to deal with during a race) but not too long to handle. A fast way to put swim caps on once the hair is tied back: Flip the cap inside out, fill it with water, set it on top of your head and let go. The weight of the water will slip it tightly over your head. It takes a few times to get the spot right where to set the cap but then you'll never do it another way. The silicone ones work much better since they don't pull on the hair. Several years ago, I had really short hair and loved the convenience (no swim cap needed) but I hate to spend the time and money on getting a trim every 8 weeks... |
