What does everyone wear for racing flats.  i looked at the Zoot since they are supposed to be tri-specific a.k.a. sockless wear, but that high back end felt terrible for me.  What other shoes out there are easy to wear without socks.  I looked at the Brooks ST3 and really liked the feel of those, but I am not sure if they would be okay sockless.  How can you determine if a racing flat will be good to wear without socks?  Any and all advice or experiences welcome.

I race in the ST3's and love them! The zoots are nice, dont fit me all too well, but its nice they have the 3 different models. The ST3's are light and comfy, I have worn them with out socks, but only in a sprint..a little blister but that was the back and they softened up since.

No personal experience with them but Pearl Izumi's running shoes are touted as ideal for sockless wear, having no seams. I've heard only positive things about them, but can't find a retailer that caries them near me to try them, and I'm not one to buy new shoes online without trying them first.

I have used Saucony Grid Fastwitch 3 without socks on several occasions. They have a really soft lining.

Nike Waffle Racers. Simple, light, drain just fine. I wear them sockless, but some may find the mesh material a bit abrasive.

Do they still make waffles???? I used to LOVE these in high school. I thought they stopped making these years ago. One of the best running shoes I have ever used.

I have two pairs of flats that I use regularly; both are Adidas and I wear both sockless.  They are the Evo (indoor track/spikeless cross country) and an Adizero pair (not sure which - RC maybe).

I really like them and for straight up road/xc/track races, they are great (with socks); for tri, my feet usually end up pretty beaten up (blisters after pretty much every run) but that is a price I am willing to pay.  Usually takes three or four days to get things healed up after the race but it's never been so bad as to get in the way of my racing.

I love my Pearl Izumi Streaks. Sockless wear is fine. I wore them for awhile before going sockless which helps, but they are great for sockless wearing as they were designed that way.

They're not like the old waffles. More like a cross country spike without the spikes.

Oh man those look awesome, and cheap too! I think I'll try those when I need a new pair of shoes.

I should have posted this sooner...my fault. But I stumbled over to Ebay the other day and they were having a nice 20%-30% sale. I ordered a new set of ASICS Kayanos and Nike racing flats. Basically the flats were free with the discount. Even the wife was happy with that deal.

Assuming they are similar to the waffle flats I used to race with in HS...they were the best shoes I ever ran with. Period. Light. Fast. Fun. Felt like you were running in socks, with grip.

Be aware that there is absolutely ZERO motion control in these shoes.
