Subject: RE: What is wrong with my shoulder???I don't know if this helps you, but I have had shoulder pain on and off for three years. It's never sharp, tho, more of a dull to moderate thing. I think it's related to stiffness in my right arm due to spending too many hours a day for too many years at a computer. (mousing ). Then when I started swimming, that was like the straw that broke the camel's back. I did have it looked at by a ortho who said I have Type II Acromioin (there's actually a link to that condition at the top of this page right now ). He gave me some PT stuff for it. The weird thing is if I stop swimming it gets worse. If I swim too much it gets worse. So some movement is good for it. I try to stretch it well before swimming, and also try to work on improving my swimming technique. I think I put too much muscle into my catch too early.
Here's that link in case it's gone when you see this post...

Edit: after posting this, I decided to go have a look at that article. Lo and behold, it was MY question. I have to go read it now!!!
Edit 2: also, think about non-workout things that could have caused it. When my youngest child was 5, she still liked me to pick her up alot. Once she leaned out to reach for a toy while I was holding her...that killed my shoulder and I had to go to the doctor about it and rest it using a sling. I got Plantar Fascitis back when I was a couch potato because of how I propped my feet up on my desk drawer. Edited by keyone 2008-10-19 6:47 PM
