Subject: Fairland Regional Park I just wanted to recommend this park for any new or beginning mountain bikers. I was looking for something different yesterday and found this park on a Maryland biking map I have, so thought I'd give it a try. It's in Burtonsville/Laurel just east of Route 29, straddling the Montgomery County & Prince George's County lines. There's a great 8-ft wide paved trail that winds throughout the park that is crisscrossed by mountain bike trails, making it impossible to get lost or too far from where you parked. It's mostly single track with no big hills at all and no big obstacles. An experienced mountain biker would probably be very bored here, but if you're a beginner or not into extreme mountain biking, it's perfect. There's a website with a link to a map here: http://www.pgparks.com/places/parks/fairland.html. But, it doesn't show the mountain biking trails at all and only a small portion of the paved trail. If anybody ever wants to meet out there for some easy biking, let me know. I'd love to go again. |
